Religious minorities

The 1965 census is the last of the Turkish census for which informants were asked about their religion. After that, due to the nationalistic bias and fears, the state structure ignores the pluralistic component of the country, which includes Alevis and non Muslims as well as Muslims. There is no national or inclusionary survey providing today information concerning religious minorities. Information can, however, be found at Minority Right Group International, who did a study about some groups. Information can be found concerning Alevis, Assyrians, Caferis, Reformist Christians, Rum Orthodox Christians, Yezidis, in the directory of minority groups.
On this matter, see also in the chapter Religions and society, the part concerning Religious minorities.
