1. Religions in Poland
173 denominations were registered in 2011 in the Republic of Poland. Most of them can be classified as Protestant (67) and Eastern Christians (18). However, in a sociological perspective, since after Second World War Poland is one of the most religiously homogeneous societies in Europe, and even in the world. About 90% of Poles declare themselves as Catholics, although the precise percentage of Catholics differs depending on the research methods used in collecting data.
According to Census data from 2011, asides Catholics, most people in the population belong to the Orthodox Church (156 000, 0,4%) and the Jehovah’s Witnesses (137 300, 0,4%). Considerably fewer people belong to the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (70 800), The Pentecostal Church (26 400), the Mariavits Old Catholic Church (10 000), the Polish Catholic Church (8 800), and the Baptist Church (6 000). Other denominations compose a group of about 44000 people.
