Report on anti-semitism in Spain in 2011

Since 2010, the Observatorio del Antisemitismo (Antisemitsm Watch), linked to the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE), together with the Movimiento contra la Intolerancia (Movement against Intolerance), prepares a report on the situation of anti-Semitism in Spain. The Observatorio was created in Spain in 2009 with the aim to report all the anti-Semitic acts committed in Spain and to promote reflection on issues related to anti-Semitism.
The 2011 report shows that anti-Semitic acts and expressions continue to remain in force in Spain. It gathers information about attacks against people, attacks against property, anti-Semitism on the media, anti-Semitism on the internet, cases of trivialization of the Holocaust, diffusion of anti-Semitic literature and anti-Semitism in public institutions and organizations. The report also contains information on the legal advances and the initiatives carried out during the year to fight anti-Semitism in Spain.
The information is collected via complaints made by citizens on the web site of the Observatorio, and also by Jewish entities and antiracist organizations. The Observatorio also relies on a group of volunteers who inform about possible cases of anti-Semitism.
