Religious feasts

Many public holidays are associated with the historical influence of the Church of Cyprus on the Cypriot society. More specifically, school holidays of public primary and secondary schools are mostly religious. The Government of Cyprus recognizes the following holy days as public holidays, where government offices or public schools are closed:
