Workplace discrimination

Under the Employment Equality Act 1998, it is illegal to discriminate in employment on the grounds of religion.

In light of this legislation, a number of cases have been taken to the Equality Tribunal. A 2010 case relates to Michele McKeever, a member of the Church of Ireland, who took a case to the Equality Tribunal claiming that she was discriminated against on religion grounds by a Catholic school when she applied for a post in the school. The Equality Tribunal ruled in favor of the complainant.
