Religions and the media
A weak presence
There are no special provisions concerning churches (and other religious groups) and media. The religious groups are as free as other groups within the society to act in regard to media. On the other hand, there are no special provisions, protecting the religious groups in media.
For earth based radio- and TV-broadcasting, state licens is needed. Some smaller churches have local radio channels under these provisions, but no national channel is church owned. Sweden has one daily church owned newspaper, which is linked to the Pentecostal Movement. Other church newspaper are edited weekly or fortnightly.
