A limited state support

Clergy stipends are not paid by the state and clergy are supported by voluntary contributions from the faithful. The Churches are also responsible for the maintenance of church buildings. Clergy are authorized to conduct weddings and funerals but there is no fixed fee and the payment is a matter of custom. The Roman Catholic Church and other Christian denominations benefit from state support in their roles as service providers through hospitals, orphanages and especially schools.
