Les aumôniers dans les institutions publiques

The Armed Forces, the National Health Service, and the Prison Service all employ chaplains. They are recruited from the ordained clergy of the various denominations and in the two latter cases most are part-time. Stipends for full-time chaplains (and fees in respect of part-time chaplains) are paid by the employing service ; the churches have of course paid the costs of the initial training of the clergy and provide, in various forms, pastoral over sight of their work.
