In Italy, the increasing number of people with different religious and cultural traditions has current and future consequences for medical staff and health systems: religious traditions have direct implications on individual’s experiences of illness, hospitalization and convalescence.
This study, named LABEL is a multi-focused research project related to particular areas of healthcare regarding social, cultural and religious pluralism. The project consists in a compared research which considers two Italian hospital experiences, AO - Le Molinette (Turin) and AO San Camillo Forlanini (Roma). It aims to encourage practitioners to interpret how religious and cultural values may be pivotal in a hospital stay, concerning personal needs in matter of medical care, interaction with staff, and decisions about treatment. In this frame, a particular attention will be given to the issues of organ donation and organ transplant.
