Pluralisme religieux

According to figures from the Ministry of Justice dated 1 January 2017, the total number of registered religious organisations is 29,108 (26,744 in 2014), representing more than 60 different denominations. The Russian Orthodox Church is the largest denomination with 17,687 religious organisations (15, 455 in 2014).

Muslims comprise 5,513 registered religious organisations (4,861 in 2014) ; Pentecostal Evangelicals make up 1,151 registered organisations (1,228 in 2014), Baptists 880 (833 in 2014), Evangelical Christians 727 (699 in 2014), Seventh Day Adventists 572 (580 in 2014) and Lutherans 227 organisations (219 in 2014). In total there are more than 4,000 registered Protestant religious organisations.

Roman Catholics have 234 religious organisations in Russia (226 in 2014), Buddhists 259 (242 in 2014), Jews 273 (259 in 2014), Jehovah’s Witnesses 398 (393 in 2014), Mormons 58 (54 in 2014), the movement for Krishna Consciousness 83 (77 in 2014), Scientologists 1.
